Areas of Specialty

We All Deserve to Feel Safe & to Be Seen

Complex Trauma

  • Trauma is anything that is too much, too soon, or too fast for our nervous system to handle, especially if we can’t reach a successful resolution (Peter Levine).

  • Our bodies are biologically hardwired for self-defence and protective mechanisms (freeze, flight, fight, fawn).

  • Often the ways we have survived our life experiences no longer serve us.

  • Healing trauma is absolutely within our reach and without a need to relive it or sit in a place of distress.  In healing our wounds, we work diligently to not re-traumatize.

LGBTQ

  • A therapist that identifies as part of the LGBTQ family as a gay woman.

  • While you may not be seeking support for sexual orientation or gender identity related matters, it is so essential to have a safe place to be who you are.

  • While treatment is provided by a cis gendered clinician, every effort is made to support wherever you are in your gender affirmation journey. There is no one "right" way to transition or affirm who you are.  It is only important that you find YOUR "right" way.

Therapy for Therapists

  • It is challenging for anyone to reach out to a new therapist, and as therapists we face additional stigma in seeking therapy for ourselves.

  • As a therapist who has benefited from therapy myself, providing a safe space for fellow providers is very rewarding.  â€‹

  • Let's collaborate in creating a safe space for you to address what you need to meet your personal goals.

What to expect...

It is normal to be nervous about first contacting a new provider, but I hope to put you at ease.

  • It is best to reach out to me via email first, but feel free to call and leave a voicemail if more comfortable.

  • I am more than willing to set up a time to talk briefly to assure the likelihood of a good fit.

  • I am providing telehealth and in-person visits .  If you or myself do not feel well on the day of an in-person visit, but are up for meeting, then the appointment can be converted to telehealth.

  • I use a platform called Simple Practice to keep all my records and support telehealth.  It is HIPPA compliant.

  • Once we schedule, you will receive a link to your new portal to complete all required paperwork.  It takes most people 10 to 20 minutes to complete depending on comfort with computer and uploading.

  • The first two appointments are for us to gather your history, explore your areas of concern, and establish goals.  This time helps me learn not only about the what you hope to work on but also gain a bigger picture of who you are.  You should be assured that you do not not need to answer any question that you are not ready to answer.

  • Gender inclusive bathroom.

  • Remember that therapy is at your pace and collaborative.
